I went to see a great installation in Pallas Contemporary Projects last Friday. It was constructed by Eve Parnell, one of the members of Tondo. As she noted in her statement, Eve was playing with the gallery space, exploring notions of scale and boundaries and also introducing elements of compulsion and revulsion. The long narrow gallery was overrun with a multitude of slugs, simultaneously revolting and strangely attractive. A closer inspection revealed that they weren’t actually live slugs but they certainly looked life-like.
